You are shocked. You check your score. Yes, that is the correct score and then, you start scanning the scores above you. You sigh in disappointment. Six competitions later, your scores bottom out. You are nearly last in Master Class. It was only a few competitions ago that you were good and winning your class. The sport was fun! You get frustrated.

You begin thinking about quitting the sport. You are lost at what to do. So many new Master Class competitors have found themselves in this very scenario. You just made Master Class and want so much to continue winning like you did in the lower classes, but Master Class is different than the other classes.

All of these competitors have competed for over a decade. You realize if you are going to compete and win in Master Class, you need to get better. You realize you need to expand your game and improve your skills. You need a skill set. This book is written to help you create a skill set that will make you competitive in Master Class and the lower classes as well. The material in Skill Sets: Practicing for Sporting Clays will discuss the three major skill sets you need to compete and win in sporting clays.

It will discuss the technical game, the mental game and the most important and least discussed skill set…execution. I have been competing in sporting clays over fifteen years and have experienced the highs and lows in the sport.

I have seen the lows as well finishing third from the bottom of Master Class. I have made many mistakes on my climb up the sporting clays mountain. I address many of my mistakes in this book to help you avoid them. This book was written from my vast experience to help you build a skill set to improve your game. Then once you have created this skill set, the book discusses how to practice these skill sets and make it better.

Because once you have a skill set, you have to learn how to apply it. If you take the three fundamental skill sets in this book and apply it to your game, you will see your scores improve and the fun return to the sport you love and have worked so hard to master.

The Mastering Ceramics series is for artists who never stop learning. Ernest Hemingway is a mythic writer and alpha male. As a hunter and conservationist, he drew greatly from the strong example of Theodore Roosevelt, and he much enjoyed teaching newcomers to shoot and hunt. Including short excerpts from Hemingway's works, these stories of his guns and rifles tell us as much about him as a lifelong, expert hunter and shooter and as a man.

Trap Shooting Secrets takes you into the world where professionals reside. With over practice tips and more than illustrations it's like having a shooting coach by your side. This huge page 8x11 size technical book teaches techniques of professional trap shooting; singles, handicap and double trap. Endorsed by professional shooters and ranks 1 by trap shooting magazines worldwide! A growing number of ceramic artists now choose not to glaze their work.

Instead, they use an unglazed—naked—surface to express their ideas and concerns. From slips and terra sigillata to burnishing, engobes, oxide washes, and additions to the clay body, there is a wide range of techniques artists can employ to achieve the finishes they desire. As these techniques are suitable for a broad spectrum of processes, subject matter and context from slipcasting to handbuilding, from high to low firing temperatures, from figurative to conceptual, from domestic to public , the scope of the work produced by the artists represented in this book is enormous.

In Naked Clay Jane Perryman not only presents the finished ceramics and techniques of an international group of artists, she also investigates their ideas and areas of inspiration to further an understanding of their work. Each artist presented here has a unique style and way of working, but they are all connected through their committed relationship to the material and their desire to express their ideas using "naked" clay.

Lots of techniques Still, read, check out the illustrations, and adapt to own use. Dec 10, Lindsay rated it liked it Shelves: ceramic. This book is perfect for the beginner. You'll find easy tutorials on how to build pots, plates, vases, from mass, slabs, templates and so on. There is also a short chapter on firing and glazes, sadly nothing is converted for Europe, so no C degrees but Fahrenheit and cones instead.

A few recipes are included but no pictures, so you don't really know what to expect. Being a potter for a few years now, the thought of templates spoke to me I also like the idea of rolling This book is perfect for the beginner.

I also like the idea of rolling stamps. Most things in this book were not new to me, although I must say they are very generous with tutorials based on their own signature style instead of basic plain pots.
